Board of Directors

HGS was founded by Dr Geoffrey Grigg.  Previously he was Chief of the Division of Molecular Biology at the Commonwealth Industrial and Scientific Research Organisation (CSIRO) in Australia and also a founder of listed biotechnology companies Cambridge Antibody Technology and Peptech. Dr Grigg is also a current Director on the Board of HGS.

Senior research scientists include colleagues of Dr Grigg, Drs Millar and Melki who together, are amongst the world’s pioneers in DNA methylation, simplification technologies and genetic expression analysis.  Other staff includes researchers and executives who have previously worked for Wellcome Diagnostics and F. Hoffman-La Roche.

Other Directors include:

• CM Abbott AM (Chairman), co-founder of Brisbane companies Agen Biomedical and Peplin and of Maple-Brown Abbott Limited.
• P Isaacs, formerly Vice President of Cytyc in Asia Pacific and prior to that founding Managing Director of Beckman Australia.
• CFO and co-founder is Robert Birrell, previously CFO of Austar and earlier PA to Paul Simon, Chairman of Woolworths
• CEO is Angus Hastie, previously Global Director of Marketing and Business Development at Roche Molecular Diagnostics (USA based).
